A producer's canvas is silence, which can be transformed to evoke emotions we sometimes never knew we had. In the case of SCOPE (Ric McClelland), these emotions are positive vibes that flow from the grooves & rhythms he creates. He draws a lot of his inspiration from old school sounds originating in places like Chicago, NYC and Detroit, which can be heard not only in his productions but his DJ style as well. Like most of us, Ric didn't know of electronic music until he started going to night clubs. That was when he fell in love with the sounds he was hearing from legendary DJs like Danny Rampling on Radio 1 and Miguel Migs, DJ Sneak & Ian Pooley in the clubs. Leaving his previous rock life behind Ric traded in his drums for decks and then never looked back!
For the past five years Ric has been hard at work in his native Belfast studio, releasing a steady string of EP's on some of house music's hottest labels. His most notable EP's to date include 'Strung Out' and 'All Night Long' both on Urban Torque, 'Magic' on Large Music and 'Omaplata' on NRK. The quality of his tracks placed him in 2008's Top 10 for the 'Best Deep House Artist' in the world as nominated by Beatport. Quite an achievement placing alongside some serious heavyweights like Dennis Ferrer & Jimpster
