A side focuses on one of the weirdest and most original bands to come out of Santiago's feverish underground music scene, Fredi Michel, a fabulous band formed in 2002 that have only recorded a few songs but have been playing for years, always accompanied by the hyper-pitched, infant voice of Andrea Guerrero and distinguished by the brilliant music sensibility of Diego Morales, one of Cómeme's precious addiction from the very beginning. Aguayo and Rossknecht (in their Broke guise) start off the Ep with their remix of Enganami!, Fredi Michel's huge hit from 2005, and with their usual mastery transform the original version, already a freaky psychedelic house affair, in an even more amazing trip, something that just grow and grow and grow like super horny sex in slow motion, no doubt a dj can voodoo a dancefloor with it. Marinero 's remix of Diegors, digging up the voices and Latin sound elements of the original version in combination with arrangements and beats that are halfway disco music and Chicago house, is an instant Cómeme classic in pure Diegors lighthearted hybrid style. B side opens up with Diegors and The Don (Matias Aguayo and Diego Morales' collaboration) remixing La Gata Negra by $ 990, a pop band formed by Ana Norambuena and Pablo Muñoz whose sound and imagery are strongly rooted in Santiago's street life and cleverly encapsulate pop and post-punk influences. It's almost impossible to define the style of Diegors and The Don's treatment of the original track, with the vocals on top of an obsessive stomping drumgroove that exudes industrial assault. A track that in the right dj's hands can certainly cause big commotion among dancers. Closing the Ep is Javiera Mena's Hasta la Verdad as revised by the ever astounding skills of our Mexican magician Rebolledo, the only non-chilean artist here. There couldn't honestly be a better closure for this record: Javiera Mena is a true queen of this lively electro-pop scene, with her gracious voice she has embroidered melodies that are so catchy and powerful to have marked a whole generation of Chilean dance pop lovers. In Rebolledo's hands, Hasta la Verdad, taken from her second album "Mena", immediately captivates anyone who hears it: in a way that is Rebolledo's exclusive brushstroke, Javiera's voice echoes dreamlike and unearthly (kind of reminiscent of Cocteau Twins' Elizabeth Frazer), supported by a slowly growing, tripping disco beat that evolves encompassing EBM elements in a typical jacking and hypnotic Rebolledo fashion. Another huge dancefloor anthem, we'd say, blessed with grace and sweetness, the perfect track to be played at the end of a perfect clubbing nite.
