‘House of Disco Records Debut EP, ‘Shoes Off’ brings together a cosmopolitan array of talent and showcases a supremely eclectic record that lives up to the apt label name and so much more. For the label’s first release, its been a daring and adventurous move that looks to have paid off handsomely already, judging by a glowing adulation the snippets have received on the official Soundcloud. With a delicious blend of some of the finer points of both house and disco, delivered with a multinational execution, this is a release that’s brilliance will serve to be heightened as soon as it gets intimate with needle and deck.

The EP opens with Italy’s Nicholas, fresh off the back of last year’s superb ‘Depth of My Soul’, and he has clearly raised his game even more with the stellar ‘Talking About Love ‘. An exquisitely produced track, full of depth, it’s a melting pot full of sultry vocals, soulful disco samples and an irresistible groove.

Australia’s Francis Inferno Orchestra offers the most four to the floor aspect of the EP, with the superb ‘Sun Up’, a slight throwback to classic Chicago house, but with a relentless drive and added muscle, no doubt influenced by the burgeoning Melbourne scene. It may just single handedly signal a resurgence in how amazing filtered house can sound too. Warning: Expect to lose your mind when the hi-hats and vocals kick in a climactic crescendo.

If you like your slowed down disco, you’ll love Toomy Disco’s ‘Outstanding’. The Argentinean seems to be hell-bent on claiming the genre as is own. And what better example than ‘Outstanding’, perhaps his finest mesh of all the classic disco influences. A little bit of Balearic, piano, handclaps, an affecting vocal line and an overwhelmingly smooth atmosphere can only result in one thing. A winner.

Can’t make it to Rio this year? So what? Thanks to House of Disco records, It’s at your fingertips and eardrums with an added injection of house, right in the form of Psychemagik’s ‘Carnaval De Transoco’. These UK producers could potentially have a hit on their hands with this multi layered, ever evolving flavour of samba, carnival, house and basically, sheer unadulterated joy. Expect it to soundtrack a sun drenched open air party near you, ASAP.’
