Heralding the birth of the first Leleka is a limited edition, hand stamped, two-tone vinyl release from the labels owner Vakula from Konotop, whos name is widespread due to the success of releases on Firecracker, and recently Shevchenko (white labels with prints of Ukrainian literary celebrities such as Gogol, Lesya Ukrainka & Shevchenko himself). These are an ideally captured Ukrainian landscape of change, struggle, nature and art slightly embellished by industrial design of the 50s. And this is what the Leleka label is all about, its musical concept reflects Vakulas love of folk and live music, where passions and melodies play leading roles. This debut release contains six vintage tracks from Vakula, almost serving as a prologue to his recent epic output. The meeting of imported soul, exploitation movies and detroit techno, with Ukrainian folk melodies and Soviet electronics, offers a glimpse into Vakulas way of working, and gives us a taste of things to come
