Producer and singer Cooly G returns after a lengthy release hiatus with a new single for Hyperdub that is a taste of her seriously good forthcoming debut album >Playing Me<, due early next year. These two tracks are especially chosen for their dancefloor power and suitability, but showcase how her singular style has developed into something truly special.
The breathtaking, cosmic depth of 'Landscape' features production assistance from Simbad.
In a very direct way it makes a case for Cooly's development and confidence as a singer but also her ability to mix immersive, frayed synths with catchy song writing and driving tribal drums that keep the whole track buoyant.
The flip side ' It's serious', made with legendary Baltimore house producer Karizma, has a pitch black atmosphere, with dubbed, echoey voices and synths spiralling out of the mix, weaving in and out of some seriously flipped, tough funky kicks and snares and a loose kettle drum.
To put it simply, there is truly no one creating music out there quite like this right now, and this single is a strong indicator of her album's testament to a unique and original talent.
