Vienna has a longstanding reputation for producing one extraordinary artist after the other. But the city on the Danube has never been able to make a name for itself as a top-class clubbing metropolis. However, recently Vienna seems to have been roused from its slumber. More and more new clubs are opening their doors. And, of course, with these new clubs come new deejays. Andy Catana and Christopher Groove met at the Vienna Camera Club in 2007 during their weekly residency gigs at the MNML clubbing series. In 2008 Andy Catana founded the Do Easy Records label. Christopher Groove has become one of its figureheads. For several years he’s been very active as producer. Offstage he has already done the mixing for a number of established young artists. In 2009 Andy Catana and Christopher Groove met the young, aspiring producer Daniel Kovac, who has since joined Catana as co-owner of the Do Easy label. The “Vienna EP” focuses on the essentials: good grooves and breaks which are suitable for both peak-time and deep sets. The artists use various sounds from house-music history for the grooves, without merely copying them. On this EP only the original mix of Christopher Groove’s “Animales de la Manana”, which will be available as an exclusive digital track, stands out in terms of style: it’s an elegantly relaxed after-hours track.
