As if Futureboogie would leave you without a fix for long, the Bristol imprint is back with another new signing for their tenth release, DJs and musical magicians Last Waltz. Their debut release Trinket is a thrilling cosmic ride featuring a remix from London party dynamos Bad Passion.
Opening track ‘Trinket’ brings a kinetic tempo and dancefloor pulse but leads into the running futuristic theme with offbeat glockenspiels, distorted pools of bass, shooting synths and dramatic piano motifs. Next track ‘Ashes’ is a cosmic voyage for the open road. Arpeggiated keys and chugging beats imbue a filmic, epic feel and the deep, sprawling bass and expansive melody create a magnificent tension as swirling pads keep the atmosphere dreamy and the percussive workout builds layers and depth. On remix duty, the London based collective Bad Passion deliver a more stomping club work out of ‘Trinket’ with rolling tribal drums, bells and a manipulation of the melody whilst retaining the high cinematic drama of the original with soaring strings. Hailing from the North East, the Bad Passion boys Chris Stoker, Andy Bainbridge and Dan Mitchell have spent the past four years gaining a loyal following for their underground club night of the same name and have started producing original material together as well as various solo projects all of which will be revealed via their own imprint. Last Waltz are Geoff Leopard, Mick Rolfe & El.Dee… the 3 DJs / Musicians / Producers who run the nomadic underground Dada parties which take place in unusual and unique spaces around their native home in the North East of England. With wideranging taste and musical ability, Last Waltz is a creative force about to lift off with more releases upcoming on Mule Musiq’s Endless Flight, underground vinyl imprint World Unknown, New York’s Let’s Play House, the enigmatic limited edition Tusk label, fellow North Easterners Audio Parallax and their own label, Object of Distraction.
