Great 3 track EP on a new Amsterdam imprint...TIP!
Sales Information:
The label say "Contrary to what you would expect from a record called “Grey EP” and its frosty artwork, the first release on Tape Records Amsterdam sounds nothing but colourful, distinctive and hot. This is the debut of Deniro (real name: Reynier Hooft), a young producer who resides in The Hague and only works with vintage synthesizers and drum computers.
On the Grey EP he takes you along on an astral trip and indulges you with deep synthesizer leads, shifting pads, clear-cut hi-hats and relentless rhythms. TAPE001 is a deep, but uplifting release. And whereas the whole EP has a certain nostalgic ambience to it, at no point does the music feel outdated.
Even though Deniro’s sound is clearly influenced by early techno records, the Grey EP is no tribute but a beautiful example of modern electronic music in true Detroit fashion. The lush, sometimes even Japanese sounding melodies make you dream of deep blue oceans and deserted beaches of far-off tropical islands. But despite of their dreamy character these tracks will definitely work
every dancefloor. This is machine soul of the highest
calibre.
Deniro’s Grey EP announces the start of this
new ambitious Amsterdam-based imprint. The second
release (by another young and talented Dutch newcomer) is already due for early 2013. Stay tuned!"
