Luc who? Marianni? This reclusive french composer paved the underground music history with a handful of mind-blowing LPs but still managed to surprisingly fall under the radar. Even the experts seem to have forgotten about him when there were clues all over the place! It is true Luc Marianni didnt belong to no family but his own, with his constant work-in-progress through the gathering of friends and the odd random musical chance meeting. It is therefore with great pleasure that we offer for the first time in decades the scarce remaining stock of original copies from his first and last vinyls, hoping to turn some heads along the release of the remix EP on DDD records: DDD-LMR-T01 with remixes of Jared Wlison (Detroit), Dam Mantle (Glasgow) and Nukubus (Rotterdam).

Most famous for his collaboration with Pataphonie's André Viaud and its leftfield experimental jazz antics (Nurse With Wound's list!), Luc Marianni released Souvenirs du Futur on Pataphonie's Fééri Music label, his first solo LP that pushed the envelope towards more electronic fields. Originally influenced by Michel Polnareff, Faust and Pink Floyd, he soon went far away, trying to make the guitar sound like anything but a guitar, which eventually led to electronics. Firmly stuck in the studio, Marianni never really performed live, which might have helped to surround him with mystery, even though he never ceased to give all he had to music, be it alone or with Jean-François Papin for his Rock Critics improv band (he actually was a rock critic and published many fanzines).
Although he regularily pays tribute to his mentors, it never seems Luc Marianni's creativity abides to any trend or anything you would expect from him. Ambitious, he was always ready for concepts, volumes and triptychs, and is still today ready to question his own work, probably in a somewhat similar fashion Arthur Russell would if he still was amongst us. With Six Synthetic Suites, his last vinyl album (so far), Marianni gave common ground to his six soloists taking turns before mashing everything up and turning it into a real collaborative composition, the amazing synth pop gemm "Final Suite".
