It has been a long time coming, but we have finally got Rayko to release a small collection of his infectious creations with us. He first cropped up on Nang with his distinctive addition to volume 3 of our Array series which picking up the Record Of The Month accolade in Mixmag and went down a storm at the Nang parties. >In The Cave< is a two track EP with an edit from Ohm Fat, acting as a prelude to an album due out next year.
Born in the Canary Islands, Rayko is a producer and DJ deeply influenced by the artists and sounds of the 70's and 80's. He made his name with edit's of classic Disco and Electrofunk records, leading him to launch the label Rare Wiri in the summer of 2008. He's had a successful run of releases since then, fuelling a busy DJ schedule worldwide.
The lead track 'In The Cave' feels perfect for Nang. 80's tom fills and a progressive walking bassline underpin majestic arp loops, spaced-out washes of colour and a guitar solo to create a glistening synth-disco odyssey.
Ohn Fat's 'Transcended Remix' is a bit more indirect. All the elements of the original are present but they come across in an more ethereal manner, airy and light.
