Full Flavor Music comes roaring itself into the hot summer of 2013 with Barton Springs Sampler by new group Devils Paintbrush.
Devil’s Paintbrush is a joint collaboration between Full Flavor Music label boss Greg Campbell and Dave Barker(Leftroom, Classic, Lazy Days Recordings). Devil’s Paintbrush have produced and recorded 8 songs which will be split up into 2 vinyl samplers and a full length “mini LP” package to be released digitally by fall 2013. Both versions of Prison League and Tokyo Rose were produced with a custom built analogue XOXbox synth to provide a very rich, strong quality acid sound. The filtering and tweaking going on was all done on the fly in one take per song, with the synth running and being recorded straight into our DAW. The instrumental version of Return to Barton Springs is also included on this vinyl sampler, with an original full vocal version sang by Dave Barker will be included on vinyl sampler # 2 later this summer. The sound of Return to Barton Springs is a deep tech house workout, with a plucked sounding bassline that absoulutely makes the track stand out constantly giving it movement. When this collaboration began Devil’s Paintbrush had no idea or pre-planned notions of how things were gonna end up sounding when finished. It was a total experiment and the ending result is most definitely a success. Prison League is a total peak time dancefloor monster, with layers of builds going on including the chanting happening around the acid bassline. Tokyo Rose and Return to Barton Springs are both the deeper cuts included, giving a good balance on this release.
