Ray Okpara’s Ama Recordings delivers its sixteenth release this summer
‘Ovijay – Enrico Peretti’. Romanian native Ovijay and Italy’s Enrico Perretti return to the Ama family this year following their debut on the German-based imprint back in 2012 via the VA ‘Vol. 2012’ EP. For the opener ‘Days With You’ Ovijay works in a cut back male vox over multi-layered percussion patterns, oscillating bass and hypnotic beats to deliver a warm and organic house cut. The clue is in the name for ‘Groovin With You’ as Ovijay offers up a dynamic groove-led beat, utilising shifting metallic drum rhythms and dancing synth arrangements to provide a seamless rhythm to his second offering for the EP. On the B Side Enrico Peretti delivers a cut back affair in ‘Stay Soft’, with a beautifully basic arrangement of percussion and submerged tones that bubble and build around wacky atmospherics and intonations. In ‘Loser’ Peretti takes things a little darker and delivers a low-slung sub-led groover with tribalesquedrums rhythms that shimmer alongside pulsating bass lines and whirring tones to create a kinetic final product geared to the early hours.
