For his first outing on Ubermax, the multi-talented Saytek delivers three robust and dynamic tracks peppered with influences of Detroit Techno and raw Chicago groove.
Despite a relatively fresh catalogue Ubermax have been successfully sharing music with the revellers of London for several years via a successful string of parties under the name and having welcome the likes of Hunee, Mike Huckaby, Mr Ties, Norm Talley and Doc Martin through their doors it comes as no surprise! After a year of planning and careful selection the popular first release dropped last year featuring Moodymanc, Japanese Kezokichi and Ubermax head honcho Sigmund K.
With over ten years in the game Jospeh Keevill aka Saytek has an impressive back catalogue that stretches across labels such as My Favorite Robot, Soma, Monique Musique and Wiggle to name a few.
For his first outing on Ubermax the multi-talented Keevill delivers three robust and dynamic tracks peppered with influences of Detroit techno and raw Chicago groove. 'The Place' ticks into life through bright stab lines, punchy percussion and warm resonating modulations; Joseph works in an ethereal spoken word vox around the middle section and shimmers towards a subtle yet kinetic crescendo to deliver a gritty high-energy cut.
For the second offering on the EP 'Addictive Personality' wastes no time and gets straight into rippling drums, shimmering synths and deep resonating bass to knock out an infectious track with a robust and undeniably hypnotic groove.
Title track '5 Years On' is arguably the big room cut of this release, whirring atmospherics and female intonations are seamlessly laced alongside ghostly hooks and driving percussive patterns, soft pads and trundling bass round of the record in full flare to deliver a punchy jam cultivated for the dance floor.
