Sales Information:
Constellation' creates a drugged out, noir-ish setting with its sighing melodies and enigmatic cadences but the booming kicks and pistol-crack rimshots swagger through exotic back alleys, taking pot-shots in the murk and gloom. 'Flight Formation' recalls the most jazz informed reaches of Detroit techno, so much so that house maestro Glenn Astro couldn't help but offer up an extended DJ-friendly edit. The earthy, melancholy bassline threads its way through a percussive crescendo while hypnotic, interlocking keyboard patterns cycle steadfastly in the background. 'Step Overs' lurches into being, all its disconnected drums assembling and lining up like a firing squad to deliver a barrage of beat-blasts, resulting in a spandau ballet of synth spasms.
This release is not just the sound of immensely talented players exploring their shared chemistry and technologies. Instead it could be seen as a manifesto for how to successfully use live instruments to interpret today's myriad strands of electronic music. And it fits in perfectly with WotNot's own mantra of focusing on innovation and imagination to deliver music that stimulates and delights
