If youre going to launch a label, it pays to hit the ground running with your first release. Thats exactly what the people behind Falstaff have done with this impressive debut. It features tracks from longtime pals Max D and Hashman Deejay. The formers track, Shoegaze, continues the Washington D.C producers recent trend of delivering tracks that defy easy categorization. This one is a blend of ghetto-tech, deep house and dreamy chords, with cut-up samples of various descriptions riding an urgent groove. Hashman Deejays Samba is a little more orthodox, sitting somewhere between deep Detroit techno and humid samba house. Its a thing of rare beauty.
