A club in the Parthenon basement where you cant see in front of you, you lose yourself as the antipodean heat beat surrounds you. This is the latest imagination of Melbourne-based band leader Nicolaas Oogjes. Marrying into a Greek family (his wife contributes spoken word on two tracks), Oogjes became fixated with Hellenic culture and its impact on humanity, prompting his rotating cult of collective consciousness musicians NO ZU to spiral deeper into their celebration of global rhythm and percussion. Their even weirder, sparser and more synth driven sound is the result of creative exchanges with Home Loan Records CEO Michael Ozone, who helped them realise the strange and complete world of Medusa Music.
