Volkan Akı,n is a fresh name in the scene that already buzzed some radars worldwide and succeeded in impressing and released his music in well established imprints like Sammy Dee’s Ultrastrech where he had his brilliant debut with a Villalobos remix. With “Sinister” he skims away from his usual stripped down minimalistic grooves and presents us two tracks of lush, intimate works of deep textures, analog machine love-making noises and intricate drum arrangements with very personal tones. And while the A side “Sinister” keeps us on edge with a virtually consistent momentum of suspense and a very conveniently sinister mood, the flipside “Atest” takes us on a ride between the high skies and the deep seas, on a seamlessly neverending loop of peaceful pads and very addicting dreamy tones.
