Catch Recordings now mark up release number six in fine style. Again nudging the boundaries and dipping their toe in uncharted waters, this latest release comes in the form of the Trunk Sewer EP, a five track affair featuring great original material by Olerton as well as a brilliant first ever remix from Literon. If you didn t know, Literon is better known as Dutch master Gerd (one his many aliases), and is someone who has defined the underground house sound for years with countless releases on labels like Clone and his own 4Lux. To date the label has showcased a deep house and techno style for the main room. Bobby O Donnell, Bob Barker and Doubting Thomas have all released here and now it is the turn of the assured talents of Harry Wolfman and Joel Wilson aka Olerton. This refreshing and original pair have released on top labels like Strictly Rhythm, Soundplate and others, and are now back with a bang.
Sales Information:
Opener Trunk Sewer is a steely, banging techno cut with firm drums and lots of industrial textures. Tamna Strata is a more experimental and weird cut with whirring machines, heavy bass and dark, bleak moods permeating the physical, destructive groove. The last original is Prick Lane, another inventive track with swampy rhythms, plenty of lo-fi dirt and drunken synth sounds all jumbled together into a real head wrecker of a track.
Literon remixes Trunk Sewer with a great sense of skill into a quick-paced techno jam with white noise blasts and firmly rooted drums, then tackles the same track again as a bonus free cut that is even more heads down and banging.
The originals here prove that Olerton really are onto a unique brand of club sounds that they can truly call their own: with their dark energy, swampy synths and militant sense of groove, they cannot fail to get floors moving….
