We are New York bound for the second release from Rex Music, as we invite the charismatic boss of Soul People Music, Fred P-aka Black Jazz Consortium to bring us an exquisite EP, which holds true to his persona: elegant, deep and refined. Like the chronology of a day, evolving from dawn to dusk, Fred P takes us on a journey through three well-crafted tracks to compose an intimate ballad. ‘Wave Patterns’ sets the tone with a smooth, airy atmosphere – minimalist yet progressive, it will have you enraptured as the subtle pads weave in and out of the background, dancing a pirouette with the low end. The dubby, hypnotic ripple of the bass ushers in a bright glow like sunrise at the beginning of a glorious day...From there, we move on to side B where ‘Continuous Sensation’ accompanies us until sunset. Soothing and playful, with a delightful string riff and mellow, warm bassline, it’s full of the joys of the daytime. Finally, Fred P closes out the EP with a harder, more angular workout. ‘Unbroken Circles’ is made for the twilight hours, when the sun has set and we’re wrapped up in a warm, dense evening. Simple, mysterious and crisp… a great way to finish up an outstanding EP from our man, Fred P
