The next release on the London based Snare Tapes delivers an insatiable five track solo EP from the currently on fire and incredibly talented Duckett. The Freerotation regular displays the full palette of his jarring percussive sounds, blissfully melancholic synth work and a sprinkle of his tougher side.
The A-side is split with two beautifully crafted, and somewhat more free flowing, melodic pieces with ‘Living With The YPJ On Venus’ and ‘Outsider’, the latter being a more sleepier, melancholic feel to the light and loveliness of the EP’s opener.
The B-side is packed with three more original cuts. ‘Simulation’ opens and scuttles along on the off-beat intent that slowly builds into a multi-layered, synth-laden beauty, boiling over and slowly simmering down, setting the scene for the outrageously tricky hip-hop vibe created on B1 ‘There’s Things About You That I Would Never Tell You’. Rounding off this original release is a 5-minute rugged, tracky number littered with sharp snares, hats and stabs that drive it into a real techno workout. An extremely well curated and classy EP, by an excellent Producer.
