EXCURSION NAIVE (TOBIAS REMIX) (VINYL ONLY)
12 Inch
After releases by Cez and Ashac, High Ends returns with an EP by Thomas Romain and his mother, famed free jazz pianist Christine Wodrascka. Christine’s style is wholly unique: there are no barriers for her sonic exploration. Sound matter, energy, forms, architecture and emotion all play a part in shaping the style of one the most unique musicians out there. With influences such as Cecile Taylor, Terry Riley or Thelonious Monk, no two Wodrascka performances are the same. In his own irregular style, Thomas adds a sense of swing to his mother’s improvisations. This fusion of acoustic and electronic creates wholly original experimental journeys which will delight the auditory senses of those listening.
A1 ‘Tribute to Parmegiani’ mixes swing with concrete music, interventions of prepared piano accompanied by a hip hop influenced beat. Concrete music pioneer Parmegiani, sampled throughout, coincidentally died the same day the track was produced.
A2 ‘S9’: A hypnotic riff and unusual rhythms create the feeling of a destinationless journey down a diabolic highway.
B1 ‘Tribute to Parmegiani (Tobias Remix): Tobias delivers a remix of finest breakbeat techno, his track full of deep cinematic ambiance and overworked textures.
B2 ‘Excursion Naive’: A sonic dreamland, the track gives the sensation of listening to the world through someone else’s ears.
B3 ‘Outro’: A loop, always and never the same.
