This is the 2nd various artists compilation from the esoteric Black Lodge collective out of Los Angeles, showcasing a variety of sounds one is likely to hear at their monthly gatherings. This comp contains a mixture of acidic jacking warehouse bangers from veteran producers TX Connect and Jasen Loveland alongside a more acid chicago house inspired jakbeat track from Black Lodge co-founder Kosmik and an EBM/electro dance cut from the Belligerents.
Sales Information:
A1. TX - Connect is the alias of veteran producer Gavin Guthrie , who has releases on Crème Organization, L.I.E.S Records, and Dixon Avenue Basement Jams among many others and is founder of the new label Texas Recording Underground (TRU). “Enhanced Fujita Scale” is jackin, bangin, and gritty - recorded using a Korg Electribe 2 pushed into the red onto a reel-to-reel. Snippets of a Casio SK5 lion-type sound flail around, leading to a frenzied Jeff Mills-ian vibe fit for the darkest of warehouses. The track title pays homage to a childhood spent in the middle of Tornado Alley in Texas and living in continual fear of the possibility of one striking at any moment.
A2. Belligerents is a production duo consisting of LA-based producers One Child Policy and BL affiliate Simonowsky . One Child Policy is a producer with an EP out on Droid Behavior sub-label VRV . “Crack99” combines elements of EBM, industrial and shoegaze to create a unique dance-floor atmosphere. Set along a chuggy and gritty beat, dark feedback atmospheres and mutated robotic vocals create a cinematic soundtrack for our cyberpunk future. The title alludes to the undercover takedown of Chinese cybercriminals’ pirating website Crack99, which sold hacked software used for U.S. intelligence and defense.
B1. Jasen Loveland premieres another track after recent releases on Detroit’s Interdimensional Transmissions and Acid Camp. “When Memory Fades” is a dark warehouse banger recorded live at his Ritterstraße-Berlin Studio during his short stay there. Set against gritty 909 percussion, falling and rising synth sequences (MC-202 and modified TB-303) create a dystopian and unrelenting soundscape. The track title comes as a response to the dynamism and vitality of the city and the possibility of reinventing oneself.
B2. Black Lodge Rezident and label co-founder, Kosmik, delivers a final banging yet sensual jack track. Chicago acid house-inspired drum machines run alongside wandering synth lines and pornographic moans and cries. The track sets the soundtrack to the journey of the legendary sea monster, The Kraken, as she rises from the murky depths of the dark ocean, leading to an orgasmic feeding frenzy upon the unsuspecting crew on the surface. Satiated after fulfilling her, she slides back into the depths from whence she arose.
