Cute Swedish Pop from 1984. A Gothenburg secret. Passed from Music For Dreams Kenneth Bager to Cantomas Phil Mison to Rogue Cat Sounds Dean and Ben. Pop that rocks a cool, faux-Reggae lilt with Bluesman licks and harmonica hooks. Cute like other sought after Rogue Cat favourites. Terry Crawford s Gunfighter. Or Romie Singh sDancing To Forget. Martin Caine s Snowbird City. Its lyrics aSupercalifragilisticexpialidocious-like nursery rhyme front, framing bad girl playground reminiscences.
Sales Information:
A chorus of masking verses, more along the lines of "All I learnt at school was how to bend, not break the rules" (Madness). Or "Hey, Teacher! Leave those kids alone" (Pink Floyd). Than Mary Poppins excited by a day at the races. Smoking, groping, poking and "pushing" behind bike-sheds.
Appropriately, the `Cats brought in Stockholm-based Mark Seven to update the track. Producing a Dub and an XTC Excursion. Both sparse and electronic. The former full of the crashing, delayed drum-machines of Daniele Baldelli`s Cosmic mix-tapes. Slapped bass strings. The latter transformed by atmospheric reverbed synth stabs and a digital Dancehall bass-line. Vocals chopped, speed up, slowed down, and spun around. In Art Of Noise-like barbershop harmonies and Laurie Anderson O`Superman sighs.

I found a copy years ago in a store here, then got myself another to extend the breakdown! It was this crazy shop. Stacked high, with stuff everywhere. I used to climb under racks, behind cabinets etc... The place was one of that dying breed of stores, where you could just get lost. Looking for an interesting sleeve or artist name. Mosebacke Records, it was called. The owner wasn't much for tidying up so it was all just random crates and bags all over place. Mosebacke also brought me Anna`s Systems Breaking Down. Byron`s Too Much. Loads of bits like that. Which were (re)new(ed) discoveries at the time. Around 2003, 2004. I'd sometimes be in there every day and it didn't feel like anyone else was too interested in those sounds. So I had the pick! They had a deck in the back, so I'd pull a huge pile and work through them. I`m really pleased with the remixes. Though I wish we`d had Trevor Horn and his Fairlight for the XTC Excursion.
