80s infected dancefloor smasher
The first release on The Golden Filter’s brand new label, 4GN3S (pronounced ‘Agnes’) is The Golden Filter “Talk Talk Talk”, along with three remixes. The original version first appeared as Dixon’s closing track at the beginning of the summer. The Golden Filter channeled the artists they grew up listening to in the 80s - Siouxsie, Human League, The Glove, Talk Talk, New Order, Xymox, Lene Lovich, and Cabaret Voltaire all wrapped up into one perfect analog dance pop song, but with it’s heavy beat, it completely works on the dance floor as much as in the headphones. LA’s Cooper Saver (DFA, Permanent Vacation, ESP Institute) provides the dance floor fire with his absolute banger of a remix. The very first play for this was by Avalon Emerson at Coachella ’18, then it went on to get rinsed all summer by Ben UFO, Âme, Dixon, Roi Perez, Moxie, Hunee, Marvin & Guy, Job Jobse, Fort Romeau, B. Traits, Solomun, and more. It’s pretty much been proven impossible to stay still when the breakbeats kick in! Fantastic Twins (Hippie Dance / Optimo Music), is the guise of Julienne Dessagne, originally from Paris and now based in Berlin. She provides a tripped out rework that forays into unexpected twists and turns, but still retains her trademark analog psychedelic dancefloor vibes. Kasper Bjørke (hfn, Eskimo, Correspondant) teams up with Colder (Output) for an epic take on Talk Talk Talk, following up their collaborative EP on Throne Of Blood. Minimal and hypnotic, dubbed out vocal snippets fly in and out of a one- note entrancing bassline in this strung out 10-plus minute remix.
