Next very very nice Watergate Output
Watergate’s emphasis on the finest emerging talent continues, with the label debut of GLOWAL. The Italian duo arrive on the imprint with a fine pedigree, having landed stirring releases on Innervisions, Afterlife, Sapiens and Diynamic all in the last 18 months. They similarly impressed during their maiden WG club gig last October on the Waterfloor. The four-tracker ‚Night Queen’ masterfully manages to eschew a familiar club sound for something alltogether uplifting, nostalgic and captivating, courtesy of their powerful arrangements and strong leads. The title track is driven by ‘80s synths and pop sensibilities, while owning enough low-end groove to propel a dancefloor (or home rave set-up). ‘Moment’ provides just that; a shining jewel of a track, dying to be played at that delicious end-of-night moment, as Simon Batten’s soaring vocal bring the collective masses to their proverbial knees. ‘Enigma’ is characterised by a robotic vocal that slides over sparse drums and a languid synth hook. ‘Antenna’ is a multi-faceted trip that combines synthwave melodies, pulsating electro chords and a slick rolling groove that keeps the track interesting from start to finish.
