NOTTURNO ITALIANO REWORKS (DANIEL MAUNICK & ALEX MALHEIROS/RON TRENT MIXES)
12 Inch
Originally released in 1983
Originally released on Ariston Music in 1983, Mario Acquaviva’s “Notturno Italiano” is one those italoboogie hidden gems that features musicians from the infamous Pino Daniele stable. ‘Notturno’ became an
underground classic in recent times thanks to the Flying Machines Ep vol.2, where Twice/Patrick Gibin and
Native did an edit of the original that got played by Ron Trent, Specter, Lee Collins, Volcov and many
more...
Story is that Patrick casually met Mario Acquaviva in Milan and they discussed about releasing an official
Ep of reworks of the song. Original master tapes of ‘Notturno Italiano’ were impossible to resurface so
Daniel Maunick was enrolled to do a cover version. Luckily Daniel was in Brazil at that time working with
Azymuth’s Alex Malheiros so they laid down a new instrumental version in their unique luscious stringdrenched organic style, with a bass to die for. Patrick’s next step was bringing back Mario to the studio and
new vocals were recorded in Milan in jan 2020, revisiting the original song in a modern key, leaving space to
the music, and fitting perfectly on the new Instrumental penned down by Malheiros/Maunick. To complete
the impressive package, massive Azymuth fan and Chicago legend Ron Trent was given the task to do
another, more dancefloor driven twist to the song and here he delivers such a fierce boogie remix [just wait
for the breakdown!!!!].
This is how to make justice to a Classic!!
