since the day nils first encountered the impressive studio of a family friend, he had envisioned to create one of his own at such a large scale. fast forward to the present day and nils is now the proud host of saal 3, part of the historical 1950s east german funkhaus building beside the river spree. it is here where he has spent most of his time deconstructing and reconstructing the entire space from the cabling and electricity to the woodwork, before moving on to the finer elements, building a pipe organ and creating a mixing desk all from scratch with the help of his friends. this is somewhere music can be nurtured and not neglected, and where he can somewhat fulfil his pursuit of presenting music to the world as close to his imagination as possible.

Ò120 bpmÓ is a get-together moment through clubbing, this moment where fears are forgotten by dancing with oneÕs friends, what we called Òthe chosen familyÓ at act-up. boys and girls dancing in a club where the walls cannot be seen, flooded with simple light. this is their activist recess. arnaud rebotini, composing the soundtrack of robin campilloÕs previous film, Òeastern boys-, is a recognized dj, a composer and a kind man, which is for me the most important quality. here, his work is marked by restraint of his love for house and after techno. i believe he deliberately withdrew himself in relation to the filmÕs power and the aids theme.

bicep (matt mcbriar und andy ferguson), das aus belfast stammende und in london lebende duo, freut sich, sein selbstbenanntes debŸtalbum ankŸndigen zu dŸrfen! eine platte, die wahrhaftig ihre geschichte sowie ihre liebe zu musik und clubkultur seit ihrem ersten release im jahr 2010 einfŠngt. am 1. september 2017 erscheint -bicep- via ninja tune. seit beginn ihrer mittlerweile zehn jahre wŠhrenden karriere haben sie der musik, die sie inspirierte, auf ihrem blog feelmybicep gehuldigt. der 2008 gegrŸndete blog, der anfangs blo§ ein ventil fŸr ihre intensiven plattensammelgewohnheiten war, erfuhr in folge einen rasanten erfolg und lie§ das gleichnamige label sowie eine regelmŠ§ige clubnacht entstehen. durch den blog wurden auch die musik-produzierenden macher dahinter weltweit immer bekannter und verlie§en bald die insel, um rund um den globus hei§begehrte dj-sets zu spielen. die aufgabe war, die vielfalt zu reprŠsentieren, fŸr den ihr blog immer gestanden hatte: eine tadellos ausgewŠhlte mischung sehr direkter tracks und exklusiver edits, gemixt mit rarem house und disco cuts, die sie wiederentdeckten, entstaubten und neues leben einhauchten. heutzutage sind sie angesehene und zuverlŠssige kuratoren in sachen elektronischer musik. ihr album -bicep- ist die perfekte zusammenfassung der bisherigen karriere des duos - es ist eine klangliche reise durch ihre geschichte, die deutlich eckpunkte der untergrund-clubkultur referenziert. matt und andy haben eine einmalige elektronische platte produziert, die einerseits auf klassischem house, techno, elektro und italo-disco fu§t, andererseits aber den typischen bicep-sound in sich trŠgt. entstanden ist ein prŠgnantes album: frei, rau und dynamisch genug fŸr den dancefloor, gleichwohl raffiniert, kunstvoll komponiert und besinnlich genug, um es auch zuhause zu hšren.
