belfast bad boys, jet project, are running their city at the moment. their recent slew of tracks on labels such as viva, darkroom dubs, as well as our very own get digital with the scorching hot >zuma<, have been getting them attention with djs great and small. chugging right along in very tastefully form, the lads lend their services once again to get digital. however, this time it is an e.p. all for themselves and deservedly so with hauntingly epic >understand this<. understand this is a clinic of how to mold proper song structure into dance music form. all the key elements are there: a discernible intro, strong vocals with meaning, and a proper breakdown that utilizes a whole new group of sounds. writing tunes like these takes knowledge, effort, and passion. the dub version strips the male vocal hook away, but leaves the snippets and effects from it in there. allowing the track to ride on its full bass line and warped synth patterns..

the united kingdom and new zealand unite on the latest get digital release, as tim green and emerson todd team up for two tracks of trendy tech-house. both of these guys had a splendid 2009. tim with his releases on dirtybird and emerson providing a contribution to get digital, at the end of last summer. their initial collaboration came in the form of exercise, which popped up on a compilation from sven väths admired cocoon label. make meis driven by crisp and tight beats that one would expect from these two producers, before tumbling into a 1920s speakeasy jazz drum solo. a flurry of vocals shoo off the drummers as the beats takeover again with an intensified energy. after all that dancing, you will surely need some foot treatment. that is where nail clippertakes over. a sonic pedicure, to easy your tired toes? not quite

leeds based audiojack stormed on to the scene with their chart busting single >robot<, back in 2006. since then theduo have stayed true to the leeds house institution that is 20/20 vision, releasing multiple 12 inches and an album over the last 3 years. one can only imagine how giddy we are to finally slot these nice young chaps for a release on get digital. anchored by a smattering of effects, quirky soundsand sliced up vocals - that even a sushi chef would bow in approval of – made it almost easy to crown >kicks forkicks< the a-side. although storming right from the get-go, it is the two break-downs that build up to reintroduce the beats that provide a dramatic tension effect, withoutsacrificing their credibility. a tune equally affective as it is infectious.

summer may be coming to an end, but south of the equator spring is springing with the fresh new sounds of emerson todd. making his get physical debut, this rising talent caps off a stellar 12 months with 3 tracks of funkladen and infectious house. a new talent on the international scene, emerson todd has been making a name for himself for over 10 years in the southern hemisphere. starting out in nz as one half of house of downtown – who produced 2 full length albums and a film score – todd relocated to australia in 2003 and shifted his focus towards audio engineering, spending years afterwards travelling back and forth between the 2 countries for his various dj residencies and studio commitments.

simon baker & jamie jones have been long time dj s in england s underground electronic music scene, who have within the last couple of years emerged as respected producers and have seen their works signed to labels such as crosstown rebels, 20/20 vision, freak ‘n’ chic, poker flat, cocoon, get physical and connaisseur just to name a few. kaskazi is their first collaborative effort and proves their individual strengths are even more formidable when unified in the studio. the three versions of kaskazi all invoke a different mood and style, but still retain that jubilant flavor of the original that caught the ears of m.a.n.d.y. and dj t. early in the summer. praise has come from all corners of the dj spectrum, as the combination of a galloping funk fused bass line, with the infectious vocals and clever effects have erupted many club dance floors into a frenzy.
