Maurizio Vitiello delivers the ninth release for the Bauns imprint he set up with Gianni Pellecchia in 2007. Entitled Aint Nobody, the EP is 4 tracks of low slung tech-house imbibed with the sort of off-kilter,drunken funk that the prolific Italian producer has become known for.
The direct, rolling funk and strange counterpointed stabs of Overthere kick the ep off nicely, providing an infectious groove with oddball sounds and a suitably bizarre breakdown which brings out the best of the bumping bassline and tight percussion.
The aptly titled fluid flow continues the quality with smooth 808 drums and shimmering percussive effects providing the bed for an oozing groove which is powerful yet subtle and dripping in clever restraint. Its the simplicity of this track which really makes it.
Slightly sinister melodies bubble under various filters and modulation tweaks in the next cut, Nudge, and do so to great effect while intricate percussion samples skim across the mix brilliantly.
Finally, incredibly bottom heavy Italians Avoid it Better closes proceedings with the sort of gut wrenching bass designed to ruin dancefloors perfect to get a real reaction!
Maurizio Vitiello has, yet again, delivered an EP of outstanding quality
