mitka ist ein tontechniker und musiker aus jekaterinburg, der hauptsächlich in der filmindustrie arbeitet. wir haben ihn kontaktiert, nachdem wir ein paar seiner tracks im internet gehört hatten. seine musik hat uns begeistert, aber wir wussten nichts über mitka selbst. er spielt keine live-shows, postet nicht in den sozialen medien und generell hat man das gefühl, dass er einen asketischen lebensstil führt.
für das -sound2--album hat mitka das schlagzeug im wald aufgenommen, weil -die akustik dort besser ist als zu hause- und er kein geld für ein studio hatte. er hat sich eine gitarre selbst gebaut, weil die normale bundlage nichts für ihn ist, viele seiner kompositionen werden im viertelton gespielt. die titel der songs auf dem album sind nur mitkas notizen, um harmonien und stimmungen zu verstehen.
-sound2- vermittelt ein mystisches und cineastisches gefühl, klingt aber gleichzeitig warm und vertraut. beim hören dieses albums kann man sich einen spaziergang durch einen grünen, nebelverhangenen wald vorstellen. du weißt vielleicht nicht, wie du herauskommst, oder wie du dorthin gekommen bist, aber dein geist kann ruhig und gelassen bleiben, denn mitka wird dich leiten.

baiano & os novos caetanos was a band formed by prolific and multi-talented brazilian comedians chico anysio and arnaud rodrigues. satirising brazils tropicalia movement in the 1970s, the duo took a friendly crack at the likes of caetano veloso and psychedelic rockers novos baianos, with their righteous tropicalista alter-egos baiano and paulinho boca de profeta poetically denouncing the dictatorship while simultaneously mocking those who took themselves too seriously. jazz funk legends azymuth play backing band with keyboard maestro jose roberto bertrami also responsible for the arrangements on the album. azymuths free and funky psych sounds combine with accordion, harmonica, brass and plenty of rural brazilian rhythms, for a hugely varied album drawing on mpb, funk and soulful samba rock. the album also features orlandivo who co-wrote many of the songs, and renowned multi-instrumentalist and producer durval ferreira.

it had been four years since juxtaposition, radians last record. chimeric is not a polished album. within the context it is raw, broken, even dark sometimes. steady, multiple rhythms, layered on top of each other disappear into chaos and turn back into discreet structures in the next moment. references of rock music, executed with the precision of a sequencer, mutated, restructured. a lot on this album is about control and the loss of control. the risk of failure. but chimeric is much more free. some of the longer pieces are composed of very different parts and different colours along a continuous timeline. they tend to evolve in a narrative form and are moving through various scenes and surroundings, which is also present in the spacial relationship between the instruments.
