on the a-side, this is what we would call a banger here at crowdspacer. simple, stupid, raw, funky. is it a tribute to new york? not sure but the b side certainly is. to be more precise it’s a tribute to merce cunningham, the legendary choreographer, close collaborator of john cage and genius thinker who inspired the name of the label. based on a recorded lecture by merce, the eponymous track is a slow, hypnotic and organic house groove, an ode to movement and ny avant garde, because “...dancing is a visible action of life.”

“tetramorph,” the new ep from daniele antezza’s inner8, consolidates and expands upon the gains previously made by that project, as well as those made by the acclaimed dadub production team. like all previous antezza productions, it is distinguished by its exactly proportional mix of fluid and ephemeral sound phenomena with rain showers of colossal beats: an alchemical mix which brings us the three-dimensional atmosphere suggested by the holotone label’s name.

despite of his young age french artist jan hendez has already released quite a lot of good records. his tunes came out on labels like kina and early dub and have gained excellent reputation in the whole electronic scene. the bordeaux based dj and producer is working with his machines since more than eight years now. hendez plays regularly in all important venues in france. his debut for tabla consists of four strong tunes that are constantly cruising from techno to house and on to micro-house. be surprised!

the second ep on unequal has two fearless tracks from cloak. a1 is a peaktime oriented banger with evolving staccato hats and rough machine sounds all over. a2 goes one step further and disturbes with noisy droning synths and a sick low bassline. flip side by anselm tells a raw story in downtempo with crooked melodies and dense hi-hat rhythms.

taking a purely scorched-earth approach to production, longhorn finds daze on typically reverent but ever-more pounding form. pushing the limits of acceptable lo-fi techno and crushing everything underfoot into one bass-addled debris-strewn mush. title track longhorn bends and contorts metal, steadily melting surfaces at 2000°c heat, cooking and roasting against a background of charred industrial drones. tool is the roller, stuck somewhere between the warehouses of detroit and berlin and harnessing probably the most rubber kick drum known to man. dusting off the cerebral pounding is oil rig . a muffled, dissonant chime reflecting on our pillaging of the earth, our unrelenting ambition for natural destruction, forming a breakneck dystopian chant for the new world.

new release on eye teeth by israel vines featuring the hybrid techno bass electro anthem “gatekeepers”, the dark techno gem “unscathed” and the ambient “repose in dub”. we started this sublabel as way of exploring pure and experimental techno in an entirely contemporary context (where it often uses historical lenses and a wider musical context). this is techno from detroit and america, not detroit techno. we would like to see american techno evolve, and this new imprint is an attempt to be a catalyst in that arena. this ep was pre-mastered by neel at enisslab studio in rome. the vinyl was mastered by carl at trutone and pressed at archer records in detroit.

grammar of movement makes his long-awaited debut via lobster theremin’s main label. a shining light through a hazy prism that refracts a spectrum of techno from it’s tinted facets. a sound that shifts between sampled swamps of spoken-word lathered over crushed synths and carpet-covered drum excursions. a raw and cathartic output born out of a period of personal noise and pain.

momentform is the musical project of ianis lallemand, a multitalented artist from paris. after three cassettes and two twelve inches, momentform has landed on the electronic emergencies platform. -lapse- is a four track 12 inch that is best described as a dark and melodic piece of neo synth wave. the sound is unmistakably analogue. the atmosphere is emotionally charged, haunting and dreamy.

lem sees the light in 2012, during an electronic music improvisation night at l’asilo (arts and culture production center in naples, italy). elem started as an audiovisual project based on electronic music improvisation and multimedia arts, created by loredana antonelli (visuals), fabrizio elvetico , emanuele errante and marco messina (electronics). elem is today an interesting novelty in the european electronic music scene that always welcomes new experimental and inspiring projects to give new life to art and music productions.

aladdin is an atypical project at versatile, even for versatiles standards. in the base, the group consisted of nicolas ker singer, chaotic poet (known from poni hoax, paris, and his solo project yet to emerge) and gilbert cohen, boss of the label. the two met in the studio after breaking up with their then-girlfriends, resulting in an album filled with inner pressure.
